[There is NO proof of her maiden name, that it was Harden/Hardin, or that she was born in Pennsylvania.]

The Xerox copy is of the actual Funeral Notice for Samuel "Sam" Briant/Bryant youngest son of John and Elizabeth Briant/Bryant. Their children were all born in Adair County KY.
Sam married Elizabeth Jane "Jane" Smith, daughter of George and Jane Smith 1/28/1830 in Adair CO. KY. She died in Benton Co. MO 12/28/1869 and her place of burial is now unknown, as are their sons 1. George Washington "Wash" Briant/Bryant, he was shot and killed in front of his family by strangers riding into their yard, and 2. David Francis Marion Briant/Bryant.
They had 3 sons enlist in the Union Army in MO and lost 2 of them. 2. David F. M., was single and 4. John Briant/Bryant, was married and had 2 sons, Sam and John, only one, Sam survived. 3. Andrew Jackson Briant/Bryant, survived, he was married 3 times and had children.
Sam and Jane had 11 children, 5 boys and 6 girls. Sam was a Baptist Minister and performed some marriages.
Sam is buried on the same lot as his daughter 9. Minerva Jane Briant/Bryant Johnson and her husband Rev. Simeon W. Johnson and their adopted daughter Effie Johnson.
Sam's tombstone reads Samuel Y Briant. It is thought the Y was intended to show that he used both spellings… Briant and Bryant. The only initial which we know of that might go with Samuel is a W, which was used alone in one Census.
More of his children's families are buried in Galena and Oak Hill Cemetery.
All known descendants use the Bryant spelling today.
This researcher, Steve O'Neal has tried, some of the other researchers are really off.

NOTE: There is NOT ANY birth info for this John or Elizabeth ? BRIANT-BRYANT. There are NOT ANY siblings or parents proven to be theirs.
There has not been any PROVEN record of his being in the Revolutionary War. The Edwards Family record was proven to be wrong.
It has been stated the surname should be BRYANT, however, when I was researching, they were more often BRIANT and other spellings, such as Brunt. Whatever the spelling it ended in T. In my husband's line of family it wasn't until his grandfather, David Francis that the surname became Bryant.

This John & Elizabeth BRIANT-BRYANT family IS NOT related to Rebecca BRYAN that married Daniel BOONE. John IS NOT the son of William Bryan & Mary Boone Bryan.
There are lots of research and books about the Bryan & Boone families. The one I read, "History of the Pioneer Families of Missouri" by Wm. S. Bryan & Robert Rose 1876 had a complete chapter missing which was part of the reason Rebecca Bryan Boone is listed as her grandparent's daughter and other times as her father's daughter.

"The book "History of the Pioneer Families of Missouri" by Wm. S. Bryan & Robert Rose 1876 has the wrong parents for Rebecca Bryan Boone. So much research has been done on Rebecca Bryan & Daniel Boone that proves they were wrong.

I'm not sure how many books David C McMurtry wrote or co-authored. I'm sure most are out of print as they had to be pre-ordered & privatively printed. Here is a list of David C McMurtry's books, that I know about.
1- "In Search of the Strode Orphans-The Ancestry of Edward Strode, Jeremiah Strode, Samuel Strode and Martha (Strode) Bryan". Pub in 1998 by David C McMurtry, Michael L Kallam, Kerry Ross O'Boran.

3- "Lady Joan, An Irish Countess" Pub 2002 by David C McMurtrey.
4- "Morgan Bryan (1671-1763) A Danish-Born "Irish Immigrant" and Some Of His Antecedents and Descendants" Vol I, Pub Apr 2007 By David Cornelius McMurtry, David Randall Bryan, Kathryn Horton Weiss.
5-"Seven Sons and Two Daughters of Morgan Bryan (1671-1763) Irish Immigrant and Some of Their Descendants" Vol II, Pub July 2009 by David C McMurtry, David R Bryan, Kathryn H Weiss, John K Bryan, Jr, Pat R Forbis
6-"The Anglo-French Lineage and Heritage of Morgan Bryan and Martha Strode-Revisited: An Epilogue" Pub Oct. 2009 by David C McMurtry.
I have copies of these 6 books.
In a book titled "Boone-The Oregon Trace" by Philip Biddle in Dec 1981, is some info on the Boone/Bryan family. Philip Biddle wrote this book is about the genealogical and historical background of Boone family of his wife's line. His primary source of data for earlier generations was "The Boone Family" by Hazel Atterbury Spraker. Only he wrote the following:" The early 'waves' from Spraker's book have been recorded largely without challenge as to the accuracy of genealogical data. However, in the sixth generation (Jesse Bryan Boone, son of Daniel) discrepancies begin to occur. His son is erroneously named Alonzo instead of Alphonso and that line is traced no further. The same is true with regard to the line of John Boone, descending from George (brother of Daniel). In this case John is not listed as a son. Thus from the fifth generation on down every effort has been made to verify each event and to cover the first time, that 'wave' of Boones who swept along the Oregon Trace in 1846." I found this book in a public library.
Also Forbush was also spelled Forbis, Forbes or even Forbs."
