At this time, I'm not positive which spelling Samuel and Jane's children ended up with if I have both.

The descendants to the children of John and Elizabeth mostly seem to have ended up as BRYANT even though Samuel who for many years signed papers with an X seemed to use BRIANT.

Sam's tombstone reads Samuel Y Briant. It is thought the Y was intended to show that he used both spellings… BRIANT and BRYANT. The only initial which we know of that might go with Samuel is a W, which was used alone in one Census.

The funeral announcement fixed by his family has BRYANT. The brief announcement in the local paper also has the later BRYANT spelling.
