Freda Lenore Hudson, 82, of Evans, W.Va., departed this life Aug. 16, 2007, at CAMC Memorial Division following a brief illness.

She was born Nov. 28, 1924, in Parkersburg, a daughter of the late Pearl Otto and Almeda Ellen (Conger) Sheppard. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas R. Hudson; brother, Dale Sheppard; and sisters, Kathleen Burchard and Opal Detty.

She was a retired dieticians assistant from Jackson General Hospital, Ripley, a licensed practical nurse and a member of the Jackson General Hospital Auxiliary. She attended Parchment Valley Baptist Church, was a permanent member of the Women's International Bowling Congress and enjoyed playing bingo.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Michael Bright of Ripley; sons and daughters-in-law, John and Vickie Hudson of Ravenswood, Rod and Bev Hudson of Evans and Randy and Monica Hudson of Columbia, S.C.; brothers, Brooks Sheppard of Ravenswood and Harlan Sheppard of Parkersburg; sisters, Beulah Whaley of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Nina Ruth Pursley of Sandyville; grandchildren, Trindi, Erick, Jonna, Kristin, Zac, Chesney, Paige, Daniel and Adrienne; great-grandchildren, Kaylee and D.J.; and brother-in-law, Edward Hudson Jr. of Spencer.

Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Casto Funeral Home, Evans, with the Rev. Herman Robinson officiating. Entombment will follow at Jackson County Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Cottageville. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
