He was born September 14, 1923, in Liverpool, WV, a son of the late, Everett and Eva Etta (Parsons) Hudson.
He was a 1941 graduate of Ripley High School, a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, and a Baptist. He was a retired furnace operator from Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corporation with 29 years service, and was a member of the United Steelworkers of America Union Local #5668. He was a charter member of the Ripley Midget League and was a former midget league coach. He was a member of the Point Pleasant Moose Lodge, and the Ripley High School Athletic Boosters.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Freda Lenore (Sheppard) Hudson; daughter, Debbie (Mike) Bright of Fairplain; sons, John (Vickie) Hudson of Ravenswood, Rod (Bev) Hudson of Evans, and Randy (Monica) Hudson of Elgin, SC; brother, Everett "Junior" Hudson of Spencer; grandchildren, Trindi Doughty, Erick Hudson, Kristin Hudson, Jonna Hudson, Zac Belcher, Chesney Hudson, Paige Hudson, Daniel Hudson, and Adrienne Hudson; and his pet, Bridgett.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Edward Hudson, and sister, Ella Mae Broscious.
Service will be Thursday, January 3, 2002—11 am at Casto Funeral Home, Evans, with Pastor Mark Siers officiating. Entombment will follow in the Jackson County Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Cottageville, with military honors by VFW post #6669, Ravenswood. Visitation will be from 5 8 pm, Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations are preferred to Jackson County Hospice, c/o Kanawha Hospice, 1143 Dunbar Avenue, Dunbar, WV 25064.
