He was born on July 12, 1922, in Wood County, W.Va., to Pearl and Almeda Conger Sheppard.
He was a loving husband, father, brother, and son. He was a proud World War II veteran where he served in the U.S Army as a medical technician in the Philippines. He was retired from Kaiser Aluminum in Ravenswood. He was an avid gardener and fiddle player and was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Ravenswood.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Pauline Bogard Sheppard, Ravenswood; sons, Larry Sheppard, Ravenswood, Bill (Jamie) Sheppard, Ravenswood, and Kip Sheppard, N.C.; daughter, Mary Ellen (Bill) Bush of Alabama; sister, Nina (Don) Pursley, Sandyville; brother, Harlan (Thelma) Sheppard, Parkersburg; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dale Sheppard; sisters, Freda Hudson, Kathleen Burchard, Opal Williams, and Beulah Whaley; and son, Jeff Sheppard.
Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 4, at Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood, W.Va. Burial will follow in Jackson County Memory Gardens in Cottageville, W.Va. Friends may visit the family from 10-11:30 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
