Her headstone is the Funeral Home original that was placed there upon her burial in 1955. We took this picture in 1996, and it was still readable 41 years later.
The following obituary was in my grandmother's scrapbook. My grandmother was a half-sister to Margaret, but you never heard the word "Half" from any of them. I also have a telegram that grandmother received from Margaret's son, Archie when she died.
OBITUARY:
MRS. MOORE DIES IN MERKEL HOME
Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth Moore, 91, died here Saturday at 6:30 a.m. at a local rest home.
She had lived here since 1937.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Starbuck Chapel. Elder W.W. Brown of the Abilene Primitive Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be om Rose Hill Cemetery
She was born in Robinson County, Tex., in 1864. She was married to the late J.W. Moore, who died in 1934. Mrs. Moore was a member of the Merkel Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Arch D. Moore of Merkel and W.C. Moore of Sidney; two daughters, Mrs. Vada Heally of Arkansas and Mrs. L.V. Jones of Monahans; a brother, T.J. McDaniel of Hale Center; a sister, Mrs. J.A. Anderson of Frederick, Okla.; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
