Edith was the daughter of James "Jim" William Moore and Margaret Elizabeth (McDaniel) Moore.

In April 1923 at Eastland County, Texas. Edith and Rufus "Rufe" Oxford were married. Of this marriage, 3 children were born. Rufe and Edith were later divorced.

2--Harvey Zane [1926-2000]
3--Millie [1931-Died Young]

Edith later married Lester Vernon Jones in Monahans, Ward County, Texas on May 30, 1948. No children of this marriage.

The following obituary was sent to me by Fain McDaniel.

Edith Jones, age 98, of Coleman died Sunday May 6, 2001 at Coleman County Medical Center.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today, (Tuesday) at Sipe Springs Cemetery in Comanche County with Dr. Charles Sheffield officiating. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Mrs. Jones was born January 3, 1903 in Comanche County, Texas, a daughter of James William Moore and Margaret Elizabeth McDaniel Moore. She graduated from May High School in May, Texas and Daniel Baker College in Brownwood, Texas. She married Rufe Oxford. He preceded her in death in 1967. She later married Lester Vernon Jones. He preceded her in death in 1970. She was a homemaker and a member of Concho Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Phillip Oxford of Coleman; six grandchildren, Johnny Oxford of San Angelo, Jerry Oxford of Norfolk, Virginia, Sharon Carter of San Angelo, David Oxford of Brownwood, and Alan Oxford of Coleman; and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Oma May Moore and Lavada Moore; and three brothers, John Moore, William Moore and Archie Moore and one son Harvey Oxford.

I took the pictures of Edith and her headstone in 1996 when we went to visit her.
