Ella K. Schmidt, 85, of Lexington died Wednesday, March 22, 1995 after an accident at her home.


Eleonore Wilhelmine Katharine Schmidt was born at Buffalo, Nebraska to John Adolph and Louise (Lange) Schmidt, the second of seven siblings: Elizabeth (Zea), Eleonore (Ella), Wilhelm (Bill), Louis (Louie), Esther, Edna, and Alice.


Ella was baptized on July 18, 1909 and confirmed on June 1, 1924 at the First Lutheran Church at Buffalo and remained a life-long member of the church.


As a young girl she attended school at District 44 and then Lutheran Parochial School. As a young lady she worked at home and did house work in numerous homes around the county. She loved being outdoors and gardening. In 1951, after her father's death, she and her mother moved to Lexington where she continued to do housework and care for children. Ella loved children and one of the greatest joys in her life was to send gifts to those in her family and friends.


Her immediate family included her parents: Johann Adolph and Louise (Lange) Schimdt, Buffalo; her six siblings: Elizabeth (Ernest) Neben, Buffalo, Wilhelm (Hilda) Schmidt, Lexington, Louis Schmidt, Lexington, Esther (Zane) Gordon, Littleton, Colorado, Edna (Alfred) Kopf, Buffalo, Alice (Gerhart), Fulton, Illinois; 19 nephews and nieces and their families.


Services were held Saturday, March 25, 1995 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church at Buffalo with Pastors Robert Finch and Duane Mass officiating. Burial was in the First Lutheran Cemetery at Buffalo.
