Louise (Lange) Schmidt

Mrs. John A. (Louise) Schmidt, 96, died Tuesday, December 19, 1978 at the Tri-County Hospital in Lexington.
Louise was born December 26, 1881, at Plum Creek (now Lexington) Nebraska to Dietrich and Wilhelmine (Tonne) Lange. She was the third child born, and the first to be born in Nebraska of nine siblings; Christian (Chris), Maria (Mary), Louise, Elizabeth (Lizzie), Ernest (E. A.) Friedrich (Fred), Wilhelm (Bill), Henrietta (Hattie), and Lewis (Louie).
On March 3, 1905 Louise Lange was united in marriage to Johann Adolph Schmidt at the First Lutheran Church at Buffalo, Nebraska. To this union seven children were born; Elizabeth (Zea), Eleonore (Ella), Wilhelm (Bill), Louis (Louie), Esther, Edna, and Alice.
They resided in the area of the Buffalo community for many years and farmed 320 acres on the NE/4 Section 33 - Township 12 North - Range 22 West and NW/4 Section 34 -Township 12 North - Range 22 West.
Louise was a life-long resident of the Buffalo-Lexington communities.
Survivors include two sons: Bill (Hilda)Schmidt, Lexington and Louie Schmidt, Lexington; four daughters, Ella Schmidt, Lexington, Esther (Zane) Gordon, Littleton, Colorado, Edna (Alfred) Kopf, Buffalo, and Alice (Gerry) Kopf, Fulton, Illinois.; one sister Hattie (Henry) Jorgensen, Lexington; 19 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
One daughter, Zea (Knute) Neben, and five brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
Services were held Friday afternoon at First Lutheran Church at Buffalo, Nebraska with Pastor Greg Volzke, officiating. Interment was in the Buffalo First Lutheran Cemetery.
