Elizabeth Henriette Babett (Lange) Schmidt

Mrs. Elizabeth Neben of Buffalo died in Lexington Tuesday, April 21, 1959, after an extended illness.
A lifetime resident of Dawson county, she was born April 14, 1907 at Buffalo to Johann Adolph and Louise (Lange) Schmidt. She was baptized May 19, 1907 and confirmed October 29, 1922 in the First Lutheran Church at Buffalo.
She attended an Agricultural Extension Service in York, Nebraska in 1922, where she took a clothing project.
On August 31, 1933, she was married to Ernest Heinrich Hertwich Neben. To this union five children were born: Lester (Les), Roberta (Birdie), Gertrude (Gert), John (Johnny), and Linda. They made their home on a farm near Buffalo where Mrs. Neben continued to reside after the death of her husband in 1948.
She was preceded in death by her father, Johann Adolph Schmidt, on April 21, 1948, and her husband, Ernest Neben, who was killed in a tractor accident on June 18, 1948.
Surviving are her mother Louise Schmidt, Lexington; five children: Lester (Twila) Neben, Buffalo, Roberta (Carl) Schneidereit, Brewster, Gertrude (Ronald) Hofmann, Norfolk, John (Joyce) Neben, Brewster, and Linda (Franklin) Mintken, Boulder, Colorado; six siblings: Eleonore Schmidt, Lexington, Wilhelm (Hilda) Schmidt, Buffalo, Louis Schmidt, Buffalo, Esther (Zane) Gordon, Littleton, Colorado, Edna (Alfred) Kopf, Buffalo, and Alice (Gerhart) Kopf, Fulton, Illinois; one grandson Todd Hofmann and one granddaughter, Reniece Schneidereit, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Friday April 24, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church at Buffalo. Rev. Victor Jordening officiated and burial was in the church cemetery at Buffalo.
