Henry Clay Eakins was the son of Acting Master Samuel Eakins, U.S. Navy, and Christiann Moser of Philadelphia. Henry Clay Eakins enlisted as a Private in Company F, 152nd Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers (later designated the 3rd Regiment, Pennsylvania Heavy Artillery) on March 8th 1864. Shortly after mustering into his regiment at Camp Cadwallader, Henry contracted Typhoid Fever and was given a furlough to return home to recover. On March 30th Henry succumbed to the disease and was interred at Palmer Burial Ground.
