Son of John Waltz (1768-1850) and Mary Margaret Hausen (1770-1848)
NOTE: According to "Centennial History of Garrett County Maryland: 1849 – 1949," William's father John Waltz, along with William's father-in-law Adam Hauser, were among the earliest settlers of the Red House area in Allegany County, now Garrett County. (Chapter 1, Page 23).

Death: 12 October 1887, Oakland, Garrett County, Maryland

Married Mary Hauser on June 9, 1825 at Yough Glades, Allegany County, Maryland, Rev. Adam Sigler, officiating (Rev. Sigler was a Methodist Circuit Rider who held services at the "Methodist Preaching House" beginning in 1824). Of this union, 12 children: (1) George Adam Hauser (2) Margaret Sivilla, (3) Edelia Louisa Catherine, (4) Sarah Sophia Elizabeth, (5) Christina Ellen, (6) John Levi, (7) Benjamin Davies, (8) Mary Jane, (9) Benjamin Henry, (10) David Elias, (11) William Yantz, and (12) Eva Marion.

NOTE: According to the family Bible that belonged to William Waltz and Mary Hauser Waltz, their seventh born child Benjamin Davies died at age three months. They named their ninth born child Benjamin Henry; thus, two of their sons were named Benjamin. (Ronn Friend, 3rd great-grandson of William Waltz and Mary Hauser Waltz).

WILLIAM WALTZ, aged 93, perhaps the oldest man in Garrett County and also a citizen of Oakland, was buried yesterday. Mr. Waltz was until a year or two ago, one of the bailiffs of the Circuit Court for this county. (Transcribed by Ronn E. Friend)
