Maria Magdalena Walk was the ninth of thirteen known children of Martin Walk Jr. (1737-1791) and Elisabeth (Liesel) Fiscus Walk (1750-1825), who married 22 Nov 1767 at Salem, Surry (then Stokes, then Forsyth) County, North Carolina.

Maria married John George Gladfelter/ Clodfelter Jr. (1780-1845) on 20 Oct 1803 at Stokes County, North Carolina. John's grave marker reads Clodfelter, while Maria's reads Gladfelter. This must have been the time period when Gladfelter was morphing into Clodfelter. Maria and John were the parents of seven known children, namely:

1. Jesse Clodfelter (1804-1870)
2. Hannah Elisabeth Clodfelter Craver (1807-1881)
3. Fanny Clodfelter Hedrick (1810-1889)
4. Kelen Clodfelter (1812-1881)
5. Philip Clodfelter (1813-1888)
6. Nancy Clodfelter Deischer (1816-1891)
7. Jeremiah Clodfelter (1818-1890)

After Maria died John remarried to Maria's widowed elder sister, Johanna. John had a hat shop in North Carolina and a large farm in Illinois. The family moved to Illinois in 1837. Was Fanny Clodfelter (1810-1889) really a daughter of Maria and John? Or was she Fanny Miller? There is growing evidence that she was a Miller, not a Clodfelter.

Links to Maria's parents, husband, six of her seven known children and eleven of her twelve known siblings are included below.
