Jeremiah Clodfelter was the youngest of seven (or only six?) known children of John George Clodfelter Jr. (1780-1845) and Maria (went by Mary or Polly) Magdalena Walk Clodfelter (1783-1822) who married 20 Oct 1803 at Stokes (now Forsyth) County, North Carolina. After Mary died John remarried to Mary's widowed elder sister, Johanna (went by Hannah) Walk (1772-1853)17 Feb 1824 at Friedberg, Stokes (now Forsyth) County, North Carolina, but had no additional children. The Clodfelter family moved to the area around the present day Moravian community of West Salem, Edwards County, Illinois in 1837.

Jeremiah married Sarah G. or C. Rigg (or Riggs?) (1824-1884) on 13 Oct 1842 in Edwards County, Illinois. Jeremiah and Sarah were the parents of eight known children, namely:

1. George Washington Clodfelter (1843-1927)
2. Benjamin Franklin Clodfelter (1845-1926)
3. Mary Elizabeth Clodfelter (1847-???)
4. Edwin Clodfelter (1850-young)
5. Martha Ann Clodfelter Rodgers (1853-1883)
6. Barbara Ellen Clodfelter Garrett (1856-1929)
7. Emma A. Clodfelter Huffman (1862-1886)
8. Clarissa Victoria Clodfelter (1863-1928)

Links to Jeremiah's parents, his wife, five of his eight known children and five of his five or six known siblings are included below.

Some records show Jeremias (Jeremiah) Gladfelter/Clodfelter (1818-1890) to be the youngest child of George John Gladfelter/Clodfelter (1785-1870) and Barbara Rothrock Clodfelter (1783-1820), who married 19 Mar 1808 at Stokes (now Forsyth) County, North Carolina. Does anyone know for sure who Jeremiah's parents were?
