Martin Walk III was born at the community of Friedberg, then in Surry County, North Carolina (later became Stokes County and then Forsyth County). Martin was the fifth of thirteen known children of Martin Walk Jr. (1737-1791) and Elisabeth "Liesel" Fiscus (1750-1825), who married 22 Nov 1767 at Salem, Rowan (then Surry, then Stokes and finally Forsyth) County, North Carolina.

Martin married Elizabeth Nelson (c1782-???) in c1798 at presumably North Carolina. Elizabeth was believed to be born in Rowan County, North Carolina (in the portion that later became Davidson County).
Martin and Elizabeth were believed to be the parents of eight known children, namely:

1. Hannah Walk Perry (???-???)
2. Maria Catharina Walk (1801-???)
3. Benjamin Frederick Walk (1803-p1872)
4. David Walk (???-1819)
5. Martin Walk IV (1805-1819)
6. Anna Rebecca Walk Moore (1807-a1858)
7. Elisha Bolling Walk (c1809-p1880)
8. Jesse Walk (???-???)

The family moved to Grayson County, Virginia (believed to be in the part of Grayson County that became Carroll County, Virginia in 1842) where Martin was thought to have died in c1843. Does anyone know where Martin or Elizabeth are buried?

Was Temperance Walk (born before 1807, died before 1870; married Thomas Traylor on 14 Aug 1820 at Rowan County, North Carolina a daughter of this family?
