George's full name is Johann (John) Georg Alexander Walk. He went by George Walk. He was born at Friedberg, on the present day border between Forsyth and Davidson Counties, North Carolina. George was the eleventh of thirteen known children of Martin Walk Jr. (1737-1791) and Elisabeth (Liesel) Fiscus Walk (1750-1825), who married 22 Nov 1767 at Salem, Surry (then Stokes, then Forsyth) County, North Carolina.

George married Elizabeth Billings (Billens?) (1786-1852) on 30 May 1811 at Rowan (present day Davidson) County, North Carolina. They were the parents of four known children, namely:

1. Nancy Walk Larimore (???-a1850)
2. Margaret Walk Myers (1811-1887)
3. Alexander Walk (1813-1871)
4. Lucy Walk Kinney (1814-1856)

All four children were born in North Carolina. It is not known when the family moved to Tennessee. In 1850 George, Elizabeth, and two Larimore grandchildren were living at Tipton County, Tennessee. In 1860 the widower George was living alone at Tipton County, Tennessee.
