Afton Devere Adams,84, of 185 South Center, Fielding, died Monday, Feb. 15, 1988, at a nursing home in Tremonton of Congestive heart failure.

He was born June 24, 1903, in Fountain Green, to Delos E. and Hannah C. Petersen
Adams.

He married Leona Kay on Sept. 23, 1925, in the Logan LDS temple. She died Nov. 19, 1987.

He was reared in Fountain Green, East Garland and Tremonton and had lived in Fielding for 70 years.

He graduated from West High school in SaIt Lake City and attended Snow college.

He was an avid gardner of flowers and vegetables.

He owned and operated farms in Fielding and Plymouth. He was a mechanic at Hill Air Force base and worked at Utah-ldaho Sugar factory.

He was an elder in the Fielding LDS ward and had served as gospel doctrine teacher for many years.

Surviving are one son and three daughters: DeVere K. Adams, Fielding: Mrs. Shirley Steed, Ogden; Mrs. Richard (Lois) Davis, Rupert, Idaho; Mrs. Eldred (Elaine) Stanwood, Salisbury, Mass.; 21 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two brothers and three sisters: Ursel L. Adams' St George: Carroll E. Adams, Mrs. Leila Boothe, both of Ogden; Mrs. Eva Young, Perry; Ardes Adams, Tremonton.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, two sons, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeril services were conducted Friday at the Fielding ward chapel with Bishop LeRoy G. Welling officiating.

Interment was in Riverview cemetery, Tremonton, with arrangements by Rogers mortuary, Tremonton.
