DeVere Kay Adams

FIELDING-DeVere Kay Adams, 67, died Thursday, Nov. 16, 1995, at his home after a long illness with his wife at his side.

He was born July 29, 1928, in East Garland, a son of Afton DeVere and Leona Kay Adams. He married Janet M. Gordon, of Smithfield, June 20, 1952 in the Logan LDS Temple.

DeVere was reared and educated in the Bear River Vailey. He and his wife lived in Tremonton and Roy prior to moving to Fielding. This has been their home since 1961.

He had been employed at General Mills in Ogden, and retired from Thiokol as a Process lnspector after 32 years. He was an active member of the Cache Valley Appaloosa Club for many years, serving as President and holding other offices. He and his wife made many lifelong friendships through this organization. He also served in the U.S. Navy for four years prior to his marriage.

He had a great love for his five grandchildren and his family. They brought him much joy in recent years as he has been able to spend more time with them.

Over the years his hobbies have included horses, hunting, maintaining a beautiful, well-kept yard, camping, and visiting friends. He learbed the value of hard work which he instilled in his children. He was dependable and loyal to his funily and friends and if he said he would do something, You could count on getting it done.

He was a High Priest in the Fielding LDS Ward, he was a devoted home teacher. He had also served as Elders Quorum Secretary and had done work in the Temple.

Surviving are his wife of Fielding, one daughter, Jana Dee and Loay (Huck) Hansen, Smithfield; one son, Douglas Earl Adams, Logan; five grandchildren; Ashlee Adams, Brandon, Danny, Haylee, and Travis Hansen. Three sisters Shirley Steed, Ogden; Lois Davis, Rupert Ida; Elaine Stanwood Salisbury, MD.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Laurie Jo, one son, Darryl Gordon, a sister and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held Tuesda,, Nov. 21, 11 a.m, in the Fielding LDS State Center, 4375 W 15600 N., with Bishop Marvin Spackman, officiating.

Friends may call Monday, 6-8 p.m. at Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home, 111 N. 100 E., Tremonton, and Tuesday, 9:30 - 10:45 a.m. at the church.

Interment in the Fielding Cemetery.

Military Honors will be accorded by the VFW Honorguard.
