Alvin was born October 10, 1922 in Foxholm, ND to Fred and Anna (Fuchs) Ahmann. He was raised and attended school in rural Foxholm, ND.
In 1942 he entered the Army Air Corps and served overseas during World War II until 1945 when he was honorably discharged. He received six battle stars--Napels-Foggia, Rome-Arno, Northern France, Southern France, Rhineland (Battle of the Bugle) and Central Europe.
After the service he was employed by Russell Mills. He married Lorraine Brown June 2 1947. They made their home in Minot until 1951, when they moved to Renville County and farmed until 1961. In 1961 he bought a Service Station from Farstad Oil on Valley Street. He operated that and a Camper Sales until he retired in 1988.
He is a member of Our Lady Grace and was a member of Little Flower Church where he was a Eucharistic minister and Usher. He belonged to Eagles Aerie, Loyal Order of Moose, VFW, Elks and Knights of Columbus, and was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by 2 sons Darrel(Kathy) Williston, Michael(Debi) Bismarck; 2 Daughters Peggy and Marilyn (Dave Sherman) Minot and Daughter in law Sandra in Moorhead Mn; 13 Grandchildren Matt(DeeAnn), Ann (Travis), Patrick(Tiffany), Kristen(Josh), Katie, Shelby (Tina) Douglass, Deanna (Michael), Ken(Jolanda), Kris (Nikki),Stacey, Eric (Jessica), Justin (Jessica) and 2 step grandchildren Keily (Dave) and Kristina; 23 Great Grandchildren and 8 step great grandchildren; 2 Sisters Letta (Ken) Tait and Diane(Bill) Moore; brother and sister in laws—Dale (Vonnie) Brown, Jack Cowles Tom Plemel, Leroy Limke,; Donna, Margie, Janette Ahmann; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lorraine in 2012 and son Dean and son in law Daniel Jacobson, 6 brothers Everett(Judy), Delmar, John(Shirley), Tom, Duane(Dorothy) and Kenneth; 4 sisters Willora Cowles, Blanche, Anna Mae Plemel, Carol Limke, sister in law and bother-in-law, Eleanor (Richard) Haider.
