Lewis Wayman Lee, Sr., 87, a life long Rush County resident, passed away January 31, 2017 at his home in Rushville with his loving family surrounding him. He was born at 10 P.M., on Sunday, December 22, 1929 in Jackson Township, Rush County to the late Everett & Edith (Winkler) Lee.

Lewis attended school in Ging and Mays, graduating in 1947 from Mays High School where he played basketball. He served in the Atlantic on the USS Rehoboth AGS 50 with the US Navy from 1948-1952. While in the Navy he was stationed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where he met and married Joan Helen Walton on the 13 February 1951. To this union there was two twin daughters and a son. They divorced in the 50's. Lewis married Ruth Evelyn Altar on September 1, 1962, in Rushville, and to this union they had two daughters and three sons.

Lewis worked 30 years for Falmouth Farm Supply, retiring in 1995. He continued to work part time for Falmouth Farm Supply after retirement & he also worked for Pioneer Seed. From 1999-2009 he worked for Incerco Technical Ceramic. He was a long time member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church where he was active with the Friendship Sunday School Class & served on several committees & teams. Lewis helped build 3 homes in Rushville with Habitat for Humanity and had helped with tornado relief in Southern Indiana thru his Mission work. He was Post Commander of the American Legion Post 150 in Rushville. He loved his family and friends & was active with all their school & sporting events. He enjoyed IU basketball, the Cincinnati Reds and the Rushville Lady Lions! Lewis enjoyed traveling out West & taking in all the beauty of God's creation!

In addition to his wife, Ruth, of Rushville, he is survived by a brother, Larry Wayne Lee of Oakville, IN, his children, Catherine Nancy Lee Hatfield of Rushville, Edith Mae Lee Evans (companion Jeff Shelton) of Rushville, Lewis Wayman Lee, Jr. "Buddy" of Rushville, Charles Everett Lee (wife Lisa Moon) of Cheyenne, WY, Winona Karen Lee Adams (husband Andrew) of Rushville, Robert Fon Lee (wife Judith Durbin) of Greenfield, Amy Michelle Lee Covington (husband Christopher) of Decatur, IN, Eric Jason Lee (wife Misty Raider) of Rushville, 17 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren + one due in March, 6 great-great grandchildren+ one on the way, 3 step grandchildren, 6 step great grandchildren & several nieces & nephews.

Lewis was preceded in death by brothers, Eugene, Marshall & Robert and sisters, Marjorie, Juanita, Mildred & Betty and great grandchildren, Lora & Dalton.

Services will be held at 10 AM Saturday, February 4, 2017 in St. Paul's United Methodist Church with Pastor's Roy Ice & Jan Dimick presiding. Friends are welcome to visit from 4-8 PM Friday evening, February 3, at Moster Mortuary in Rushville. Burial will be in Rushville's East Hill Cemetery. The Rush County Veteran's Honor Guard will provide military honors.
