Ruth Evelyn Lee, 82, a lifelong Rushville resident passed away Sunday, December 15, 2019 at her home in Rushville. Ruth was born in Rushville on October 11, 1937 to the late Fon and Clara (Riggs) Alter.
Ruth was a 1956 graduate of Rushville High School.
She married Lewis Wayman Lee Sr. on September 1, 1962 and he preceded her in death on January 31, 2017.
Ruth worked as a secretary at the Indiana State Building and Emerson Climate Technology, Rushville, where she retired.
She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and volunteered at the Rush County Community Assistance Food Pantry and the Rush County Senior Citizens Center. Ruth loved sewing, quilting and cross stitch.
Ruth is survived by 4 sons, Lewis Wayman Lee Jr., Charles Everett Lee and wife Lisa both of Rushville, Robert Fon Lee and wife Judy of Greenfield, IN, Eric Jason Lee and wife Misty of Rushville, 4 daughters, Edith May Evans, Catherine Nancy Lee both of Rushville, Amy Michelle Lee of Decatur, IN. and Winona Karen Adams and husband Andy of Rushville, 19 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren and one on the way.
In addition to her husband and parents, Ruth was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Alter, 4 sisters, Mable Bird, Viola Gordon, Aileen Bowers and Winona Alter and 2 great grandchildren, Lora and Dalton Hatfield.
Services was at 1 PM Saturday, December 21, 2019 at Moster Mortuary, Rushville, Rev. Amy Lee presided. Friends were welcome to visit from 11 AM until the time of service that day at the mortuary. Burial was in Rushville’s East Hill Cemetery.
