Adam was the son of Frederick Yerian and his 2nd wife, Elizabeth.
In 1840 he enlisted in the army of the Republic of Texas at Galveston.
He married on September 1, 1841, Montgomery County, Texas, to Sarah P. Powell. Their first child was born in Sabine Parrish, Louisiana.
Adam has not been found in the 1850 census, but he moved his family from Texas to Perry County, Illinois, about 1853 and appears there in the 1860 census.
In September, 1861, having left his family in Illinois, he enlisted in western Tennessee with the 8th Confederate Cavalry out of Chambers County, Alabama. He married Sarah Elizabeth Wheeler on February 19, 1865, in Chambers County, Alabama, and they had a daughter and a son.
Before the 1870 census he had again left his family and on March 29, 1873, he married Ingre Nelson in Chicago, Illinois, by whom he had 4 more children. Adam and Ingre are listed in Chicago in the 1880 census.
In 1885 the name Adam Yerian is listed as a miner in a directory of Leadville, Colorado.
He is also known to have operated placer mines in Castle Dale, Utah, before moving to California.
On May 30, 1888, he was admitted to the Masonic Veteran Association in Oakland, California.
His July 25, 1888, voter registration in Alameda County, California, gives his age as 69 and birthplace Ohio.

Aged Man's Death
Resident of Annabella Died While Traveling.
(Special Correspondence)
Richfield, Dec. 19. - Adam Yearrian, while traveling through this county, was taken ill at Central a few days ago and died. He was 82 years old. Little was known of him except that he had a home and lived at Annabella for a number of years, but of late he seemed to have no permanent residence. The people of Central and Annabella, in the absence of any relatives, took his remains to Annabella and there interred them.
