Lester Edward Klahold, 69, of 215 Joshua Lane, Ephrata, died Monday morning at home after a long illness. Klahold was a retired welder for Dart Container, Leola. He previously worked for Federal Paper Board, Reading, and M.G.S. Inc., Denver. A U.S. Army veteran, he served during the Korean War. He was a member of The Worship Center, Leola, and Christian Motorcycle Association. Klahold enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and woodworking. Born in York County, he was the son of Katharine Carson Klahold of York and the late Gerhart Klahold Sr. He would have been married 44 years on Feb. 15 to Betty Elizabeth Neiman Klahold. Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are two sons, Mark of Clay and Les, married to Cynthia Sipe Klahold of Lititz; three grandchildren; three brothers, Kenneth, married to Alma Cunningham Klahold, and David, married to Doris Seichrist Klahold, both of York, and Philip, married to Yvonne Almoney Klahold of Strausstown; and a sister, Florence, married to Alex Siegfried of York. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Gerhart Jr., Fred and Walter.
