Mr. Samuel Grover Tressler Sr., 97, of 7202 Kimmel Road, near Libertytown, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, at his home after an illness of four weeks. His wife, Rena Bell Wachter Tressler predeceased him in February 1984.
Born Oct 30, 1887, at Funkstown in Washington County, Mr. Tressler was a
son of the late Charles Winfield and Elizabeth Stambaugh Tressler.
Mr. Tressler was a dairy farmer all his life.
Surviving are three daughters, Florence Magaha of near Libertytown,
Lillian Pasquarette of near Central, and Mary Bollinger, near Emmitsburg; five sons, Hammond U. Tressler of Wheaton, Garl A. Tressler of near
Libertytown, Paul W. Tressler of near Mount Airy, Samuel G. Tressler Jr. of
near Libertytown and James M. Tressler, near Walkersville; a number of grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; six
sisters, Pansy Tressler of near Westminster, Ethel Pittinger of near
Boonsboro, Ruth Stead of Delaware, Carrie Wastler and Edith Danner, both
of Thurmont and Beulah Barman, Littlestown and one brother, John Tressler, Leitersburg.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at the
Libertytown Funeral Home of D.D. Hartzler. The Rev. Raymond Roderick,
pastor emeritus of Libertytown United Methodist Church, will officiate.
Interment wfll be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. The family will
receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening, Jan. 18.
