MURPHYSBORO — Rosie Camden, 76, passed away at 4:45 p.m. Thursday, May 12, 2016, at her home in Murphysboro.

Rosie was born Oct. 8, 1939, in Jackson County, to Layfette Gill and Muriel (Clark) Gill.

She graduated from Murphysboro Township High School with the Class of 1957.

She had worked as a seamstress at Calcrest Jacket Factory for 29 years and then worked in Health Information for 29 years at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro.

Mrs. Camden was a member of Carbon Lake Club, the Murphysboro Moose and the Murphysboro Senior Citizens, where she enjoyed playing cards with her friends.

Rosie married Jim Camden on Jan. 6, 1961, in Pinckneyville, and he preceded her in death Dec. 11, 2007.

She is survived by three children, James Camden and his wife, Christine Camden, LaDonna Barone and her husband, David Barone, and Linda Camden Sherman, all of Murphysboro; four grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; two sisters, Ethel Davis of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Opal Johnson of Murphysboro; one sister-in-law, Barbara Gill of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and many, many nieces and nephews.

She had lots of friends of which some have preceded her in death.

She was preceded in death by one son in infancy, Roger Eugene Camden; five brothers; four sisters; and her parents.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, May 16, in Pettett Funeral Home, with the Rev. William Elliott officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family or to Celtic Hospice.
