Mildred Juanita Asbury nee Gill was born November 5, 1926, in Sand Ridge to Lafayette and Muriell (Clark) Gill. Her siblings include Leon "Bud" Gill of Decherd, Tennessee; Opal John and Rosetta Camden, of Murphysboro; Eileen Moake of Osage Beach, Missouri; and Mary Johnson and Ethyl Davis, of Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and a sister.

She married Homer Russell Asbury on December 24, 1942 in Perryville, Missouri. He preceded her in death. Her children include Marijo (spouse, Bob) Taylor of Wichita.

Mrs. Asbury had worked at the former Calcrest Factory in Murphysboro. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Murphysboro.

She died at the age of 75 on Saturday, October 5, 2002. at her daughter's residence in Wichita, Kansas. Her funeral service was held at Pettett Funeral Home.
