HENRY WALTER DIXON

Henry Walter Dixon, 101, son of Jerry Dixon and Sarah (Baker) Dixon was born December 7, 1880 near Yukon. He died March 22, 1982 at the Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston.

He was united in marriage to Laura Holder July 2, 1905 and to this union four children were born.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sisters and one daughter, Orfa.

Mr. Dixon spent his lifetime in Texas County where he and his wife reared their family. He lived many years in the Yukon community where he was a farmer by trade. In later years he lived in Summersville and in Houston.

Survivors include one son, Raymond Dixon of Summersville; two daughters, Norma Bodo of Houston and Nova Jean Terrill; 19 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren; one brother, Elmer Dixon of Houston and one sister Bertie Medlock of Yukon.

Mr. Dixon had the rare privilege of spending many years in Texas County as one of its oldest citizens. He was a member of the Big Creek Free Will Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 24 at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Schebaum officiating. Burial was in the Big Creek Cemetery.
