RAYMOND DIXON
Raymond "Shorty" Dixon, son of Walter Dixon and Laura Holder Dixon, was born October 8, 1907 at Yukon. He died March 10, 1985 at the Veteran's Hospital in Poplar Bluff.
He was united in marriage to Olive Pearcy July, 1940.
In addition to his wife, surviving are three daughters, Laura Lea Tate of Pocahontas, Ark., Loretta LaRue and Juanita Roach of Fairbanks, Alaska; two sons, Bill of Springfield and James of Fairfield, Pa.; two sisters, Norma Bodo of Houston and Nova Jean Terrill of Amarilla, Texas; 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. Mr. Dixon spent his entire life in Texas County, most at Summersville, where he was active in the Lions Club and VFW. He served numerous terms on the Summersville City Council and school board.
He served his country in World War II, spending four and one-half years in service, receiving many medals. He was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church.
Services were Tuesday, March 10, at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Schebaum officiating. Burial was in the Big Creek Cemetery.
