Mrs. Nellie S. Turner, 87, of 254 Grove St., died at 7:10 a.m. Sunday at the American Legion Hospital, where she had been a patient since last September. Born Oct. 21, 1872, in Marshall, a daughter of Franklin B. and Lovisa (Rossiter) Sheldon, Mrs. Turner was married Dec. 25, 1895, to Elmer A. Turner at Marshall. They came to Battle Creek in 1909 from Olivet and were engaged in the resort business at Fine Lake, Gull Lake and Goguac Lake. Before that they operated bakeries in Bellevue, Nashville and Olivet. Mr. Turner died here Oct 29, 1945. Survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Minnie S. Cronk of 1961 N.E. Capital Ave., and Mrs. Gertrude Campbell of Hammond, Ind., and 21 nieces and nephews. Mrs. Turner was a life member of Chapter 153, OES.
