Mrs. Lovisa Sheldon, 88, Dies Here Today
Short Illness Fatal to Oldest of Five Generation; Lived Here for 30 Years.

Mrs. Lovisa Beatrice Sheldon, who had five generations present at her 88th birthdayMarch7, died about 1 o'clock this afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Andrew W. Cronk of Northeast Capital Avenue.
Mrs. Sheldon, who had lived in Calhoun County for more than 80 years and in Battle Creek for 30 years, had enjoyed remarkably good health until a week ago when she became ill. She was widely known for her tatting work, and always kept well posted on world affairs through reading.
She was an active member of the Three-Quarters Century Club and belonged to the Baptist church of Marshall, where she resided for many years until the death of her husband, B. Franklin Sheldon, in January 1906. She moved to Battle Creek at that time residing with another daughter, Mrs. E. A. Turner of 254 Grove.
Besides Mrs. Cronk and Mrs. Turner, Mrs. Sheldon is survived by two other daughters, Mrs. Arthur Pooley of 168 Meachem avenue and Mrs. E. J. Campbell of Hammond, Ind; two sons, Herbert Sheldon of 24 Lula Avenue and Charles Sheldon of 256 West VanBuren; 23 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. A son and three daughters preceded her in death.
She was born March 7, 1848, in Ohio, but moved as a child to Clarendon with her parents. She was married in 1864.
The body was removed to the Royal funeral home, pending arrangements for the funeral.

Funeral Services for Octogenarian Friday
Four younger generations will be present at the funeral at 2 p.m. Friday of Mrs. Lovisa Beatrice Sheldon, 88, who died Wednesday afternoon following a week's illness.
The services, to be conducted by Rev. J. W. Hill, will be held at the Royal funeral home here. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery, Marshall.
Mrs. Sheldon was born in Ohio March 7, 1848, buy moved as a child to Clarendon township. From her marriage in 1864 until death of her husband, B. Franklin Sheldon, in 1906, she lived in Marshall. She resided with her children in Battle Creek for the last 30 Years.
