Leo J. Scieszinski
Leo J. Scieszinski, 85, of Albia, died Wednesday, March 15, 1995, at his home. Services will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albia, the Rev. Thomas Doyle and Rev. Mark Swanson officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Melrose.
He was born July 9, 1909, in Melrose to Joseph and Margaret O'Brien Scieszinski. He married Evelyn Crall Feb. 26, 1935, in Weller. She died Oct. 1, 1982. He later married Rosella Livengood Dec. 29, 1987. He had farmed in the Melrose area until moving to Albia. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albia.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Lucille Sullivan of Des Moines; four sons, Dave of Wilton, Ray of Des Moines, Don of Kansas City, Mo., and Gene of Melrose; two stepdaughters, Eleanor Barnhill of Albia and Thelma Brennen of Rock Island, Ill.; three stepsons, William Livengood of Pennsicola, Fla., Harold Livengood of Cedar Rapids and Dale Livengood of Rock Island, Ill.; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; 17 step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Tom Scieszinski of Melrose.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Katherine, Marie and Josephine; and two brothers, Pat and Paul.
A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the Gilbert Funeral Home in Albia. Visitation is open at the Gilbert Funeral Home in Albia. Memorials have been established to the Melrose Community Betterment Association. Gilbert Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
