Barbara Frank was the fourth of thirteen known children of Wilhelm Franch (William Frank) (1731-1804) and Barbara Walk (1735-1815). They were among the earliest members of Beck's Lutheran Church, Lexington, Davidson Co.

Barbara's death year of 1826 has not yet been proven, but is believed to be correct. Barbara married Johann Karl Kreim (went by John Charles Grimes) (1761-1830) in c1785 in presumably North Carolina, though a record of the marriage can not be located. Barbara and John were the parents of nine known children, namely:

1. George W. Grimes (1787-1870)
2. Susanna Grimes Long (1788-1855)
3. Jacob Grimes (1789-1811)
4. Sarah Grimes Bariers (1791-1858)
5. Christina Grimes (1793-1858)
6. Margareta Grimes Sappenfield (1796-1796)
7. Philip Grimes (1798-1866)
8. Rebecca Grimes Koontz (1800-1838)
9. Andreas Grimes (1804-1882)
