Simon Peter Lawlis was a bachelor and spent the major portion of his life working for his brothers Phillip, Alfred, Jacob, Jeff, and their children. Simon enjoyed working with his hands doing hard manual labor. He never married, but according to rumor had an unregreted love affair early in life but when questioned about it was non-committal. His manner was brusque but he had a heart of gold and was beloved by his nephews and nieces.
