Mrs. Matilda Phillips, age 85 years, died suddenly Friday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Amanda Yingst, of near Wharton and her remains were interred in the Wharton Creek cemetery Saturday, the funeral services being conducted by Rev. Russell Ridgeway. Apoplexy is said to have been the cause of her death.
Mrs. Phillips was a native of Madison county and resided in same all her life. She was the widow of Rev. Willis Phillips who died several years ago. Besides Mrs. Yingst, other children surviving her are Mrs. M. I. Shuster of Huntsville, Mrs. Hannah Inman of Wharton and G. P. Phillips of Little Rock, all of whom were present at the funeral.
