Green Berry Phillips, 75, of Little Rock, died of a heart attack Saturday, Nov. 15 about 2:30 a.m. while on duty as a guard at the Governor's Mansion.

Mr. Phillips was a native of Madison County and was born in the Whorton Creek community, August 24, 1883. His parents were the late Willis Phillips, a Methodist minister, and Matilda Dotson Phillips. He was a member of the Capitol View Methodist church in Little Rock.

He was a member of the Police Department in Little Rock for ten years and was with the Police Department in Washington, D.C., in 1933, returning to Little Rock to serve as a guard at the Federal Reserve Bank where he was employed for 16 years until his retirement a few years ago.

Survivors are his wife, Ruth Craig Phillips of the home; a son, Dr. Bert L. Phillips of Little Rock, a daughter, Mrs. C. W. Wilkins of Conroe, Texas; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Griffin-Leggett Funeral Home by Rev. Orie Thompson and Rev. H. O. Bolin. Burial was in Roselawn Memorial Park.

Pallbearers were, Governor Orval Faubus, Johnny Harding, C. R. Muncrief, Buck Ellis, Joe Wilson, R. E. Schoot, H. U. Andrews and Clarence Wilkins.
