LEO J. SCHULER
Leo J. Schuler, 74, of 402 Jefferson St., a retired general foreman for Revere Copper and Brass, died Saturday, Oct. 4, 1989, in Oneida City Hospital after a long illness.
Mr. Schuler was employed by Revere for 42 years before retiring in 1975.
Born in Rome, Jan 7, 1915, he was the son of Leo G. and Nora Spellicy Schuler. In 1946, he married Pearl Klein in Maryland. Mr. Schuler served during World War II and had received a second lieutenant's commission in France. He also served in North Africa, Sicily and other parts of Italy. He received the Purple Heart decoration for wounds he received when the Anzio beachhead was established.
Mr. Schuler was a Catholic.
Surviving besides his wife, are three sons, Leo J. Schuler Jr., Ronald E. Schuler and Wayne T. Schuler, all of Rome; five sisters, Mrs. Clifford (Mary) Marcellus, Rome; Mrs. Richard (Florence) Baader, Rochester; Mrs. Helena Brennon, Boonville; Mrs. Theresa Marcisofsky, Rome; and Mrs. Ernest (Connie) Gipson, Danville, Ky.; two brothers, Lawrence Schuler, Plattsburgh, and Winston Schuler, Rome.
Services will be held 8:30 A.M. Wednesday at the Barry Funeral Home, and at 9 in St. Peter's Church. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Calling hours will be tonight from 7 to 9 and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
