Daughter of William Wood, mother unknown on DC, she married John D. Adams, was widowed, lived in Frenchcreek Twp, died there of a cerebral hemorrhage, senile dementia, and arteriosclerosis, per death certificate 9774, whose informant was Newton Adams, Rt 1 Franklin. Buried Jan 18 1939.

Her mother was Rebecca Marshall Wood, per 1870 census and Marshall Wood's death certificate.

Franklin News-Herald, Monday, Jan 16 1939:
Mrs. Viola Adams, 83, died at 10 am Sunday at her home a mile east of Polk, following a long illness. She suffered several strokes in recent years, and her condition had been critical following a severe stroke four weeks ago. She was born in Canal Township Jan. 31, 1856, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Wood.

Her early life was spent in that area. After her marriage, she moved to the Polk area, living for 55 years in the same house in which she died. She enjoyed the admiration and respect of a wide circle of friends. She was especially noted for her kindly disposition. She was a member of the Polk Presbyterian Church of many years.

She married John D. Adams who preceded her in death.

Surviving are 7 children, Mrs. Grace Lanche and Miss Gertrude Adams of New York City, Mrs. Bessie Stroup of Kingsville, OH, W. W. Adams of Ashtabula, OH, and Plumer A., Newton, and Samuel Adams of Polk; a brother, Mont Wood of Polk; two sisters, Mrs. Melva Newton of Muncie, IN, and Miss Etta Wood of Polk; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 pm Wednesday at her home with Rev. John Gresh of the Polk M. E. Church officiating. Interment will be in Sandy Cemetery near Polk.
