Rachel was born and raised in Egeria, West Virginia. She married Arland Hatcher November 5, 1942. She was a home-maker and she and Arland volunteered at the Elyria Salvation Army for many years.
During WWII while Arland was away in the Army, Rachel moved to Baltimore, Maryland with her sister and worked at a tank plant.
Rachel and Arland moved their family to Ohio from West Virginia in 1959. She worked for a time at Walter's Restaurant in Grafton.
Rachel was always trying to get people to laugh, pulling pranks on her sister while at family reunions, and enjoyed being with her family. She was always cooking and baking and was just a wonderful person.
Rachel and Arland had been members of the Grafton First Baptist Church.
Rachel died peacefully in her home, nine months after Arland, with her son and daughter at her side.
