Verco was the son of Wesley "Ned" and Della (Walker) Walker.

Verco enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard June 5, 1943. As a Seaman 2nd Class he received intensified training on anti-submarine warfare methods at the Submarine Center Training Center in Miami, FL. He served for a time on the U.S.S. Moberly and was discharged Feb. 20, 1946.

Verco was married to Lila Lilly Brogan and they lived in Midway and Sophia for many years where Verco had a barbershop.

Their children are:

1. William Creed Brogan, born in 1943 (from Lila's previous marriage. Williams' father was killed in WWII)
2. Virginia Pearl Walker Lilly, born in 1947
3. Velma Lee Walker Lilly, birth year not available
4. Vessie Garfield Walker, born in 1952 and died from injuries in an automobile accident Oct, 16 1971.

Verco had nine siblings:

Verco was very interested in family genealogy and researched his family history, even travelling to various cemeteries, counties and states.

Verco once owned a mill in Egeria, West Virginia and was known for his woodworking skills, carving toys and building beautiful furniture pieces. Verco was known throughout the county and surrounding areas. He was very popular.

Verco and Lila were members of the Soak Creek Baptist Church.
