Mr. Hayes was born in Owosso, son of Edward and Mary Luft-Hayes. He attended the Owosso schools and resided all of his life in the Owosso area. Mr. Hayes married Celia Mae Robertson on August 2, 1906. The year before Mr. Hayes death Edward and Celia celebrated 60-years of marriage. He was a member of the First Church of Christ and the 'old' Co.1 of the National Guard. He was a Foreman of the Veneer Department of the Estey Furniture Co. until his retirement. From 1941 to 1960 he was a Custodian at the Emerson and Central Schools.
