Fred Hayes owned and operated a merchants delivery service before he stared farming North of Owosso on old M-47. He was very active in several farm organizations. Fred also was instrunemtal in starting the Pilgrim Holiness Church and School in Owosso. In later years he moved into the city of Owosso. Fred used horses and a wagon to draw materials to rebuild Central high School, located at the corner of Oliver and Shiawassee Street, after it burned in 1900. He lived with his daughter Irene in Columbiville at the time of his death. Fred married Myrtle Brown on March 15, 1904. She preceded him in death in 1943, he then married Ann Scharr-Wetzel on October 1947.
