Hezekiah Pool/Poole married (1st) on May 4, 1876 to Elizabeth "Betty" Sturdivant (1847-1884), daughter of Allen Sturdivant and Elizabeth Griffis. They were parents of two known children -- Lelia B. and Allie. Betty died in 1884 leaving him with two young children to raise; and that same year he married (2nd) Lillie Brook Ferrell (1861-1943) of Wake County, daughter of James J. Ferrell and Cornelia Ellington, by whom 6 more known children were born -- Earl, Carl, Karen, Noel, Wills, and Mildred.
