Chester Hartzell, 70, of Pulaski RD 1, died in his home at 11:45 p.m. yesterday after a long illness.
He was born in New Castle Oct. 25, 1894, to John and Elizabeth Knight Hartzell. He was married to the former Margaret Patton, June 12, 1922.
Mr. Hartzell was retired from the Youngstown Sheet and Tube Co. and was a veteran of World War I. He was a member of New Bedford UP Church.
Surviving are his wife at home, three sons, William J., Chester Jr., and Donald G. and a daughter, Mrs. Doris J. Ruby, all of Pulaski RD 1, a step-son, Hugh M. O'Neill of Sharon; five sisters, Mrs. John (Nettie) Majesky and Mrs. Elizabeth Fee, both of New Castle, Mrs. Mary Lang and Mrs. Harriet Duffy, both in California, and Mrs. Margaret Dickerson of New Mexico; two brothers, Harrison and William, of New Castle, and nine grandchildren.
Friends will be received in the Raymond D. Cunningham Northside Funeral Home, 2429 Wilmington Rd., from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow.
A service will be conducted in the funeral home by Rev. Thomas Newcomb.
Burial will be in Graceland Memorial Cemetery.
