Albert John Stephen Kapke was born Jan. 14, 1887 at Mohrstein, Germany, the son of Albert and Frederika Gross Stephen. When he was five he moved to the United States with his family and settled at Arlington, Iowa, where he gre up and attended schools.
Kapke was united in marriage to Mary Trumblee on Oct. 30, 1907 at Manchester. They made their home at Lamont. He was employed with the Chicago Great Western Railroad for 50 years. He dided Sunday, Oct 19, at the age of 88, at his home in Lamont.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 1960, one son, two daughters, two grandchildren, one brother and two sisters.
He is survided by one son Karl of Lamont, two daughters, Julia Schoenbeck of Marshaltown, Ruby McFarlane of Lamont, 11 grandchildren, four of whom are Mrs Gene (Elaine) Thompson of Gilman, Mrs. Glenn (Elise) Frohn of Cedar Falls, Russell Schoenbeck of Wichita, Kan., and Sonny McFarlane of Lamont; 29 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 pm Tuesday, Oct. 21, at the Fawcett Funeral Chapel in Lamont with Rev. Charles Ager officiating. Interment was in Campton Cemetery.
