Karl Kapka was born near Stetin, Pommern, Germany, July 26, 1863 and died July 28, 1931, at the age of 68 years and two days. In the year 1885 he came to America, settling near Manchester. He was confirmed in the Lutheran Faith at the age of 14 years. At the age of 17 years he suffered a broken leg, which left him a cripple. However he followed farmin until 30 years ago when he took up work on the railroad and in 1930 he lost his right arm in an accident while working. He had made his home since coming to America in Manchester, Sumner, Arlington and Strawberry Oint and had resised here since 1901. In August, 1893 he married to Miss Fredricka Stephens of West Union. Mr. Kapka has been ailing for some time. He leaves to mourn; his wife, 3 stepchildren, Wilhelmina Weisender of Lamont; Fredericka Kappel of Strawberry Point, and Albert Kapka of Lamont, also 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and one brother Wm. of Denver. Funeral services were held from the Lutheran church Friday morning at 10 oclock. Rev. Fred Lutz conducted the services. The casket beareres were grandson: Marvin, Rubert, Richard and Walter Weisender, Karl Kapka and C. McFarlane.
