Henry Plate was born at Hanover, Germany, Sept 3 1837. In 1860 he came to America and made his home at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
He was married to Miss Lizzie Lang in 1861 to which union ten children were born. Mrs. Plate died Aug 30 1884. On February 1885, he married Mrs. Mary (Helig) Smith, at Pittsburgh, Pa. to whom two sons were born.
The family came to Illinois in 1877, locating in Pleasant Township where ever since he has resided. A devoted wife and the following children survive: William, Henry, Edward, Charles, George, Mrs. Phenie Hay, Anna Heisler, Lena Bucy, Lizzie Cook and one step daughter, Mrs. George Myers.
He died at his residence Wednesday, Aug. 4, 1909 aged 71 yrs, 11 months, 1 day. The remains were taken to the Ipava cemetery where they were laid to rest.
