FUNERAL TOMORROW FOR HENRY PLATE, 72
Funeral services for Henry Plate, who died here Saturday, will be held at the Methodist church in Astoria at 2 p.m. tomorrow with Rev. Fred Thompson officiating, assisted by Rev. Simmons. Burial will be at the Ipava Cemetery.
Mr. Plate passed away at the home of his sister, Phenie Hay, 907 East Washington street, following a heart attack. He was born Aug. 27, 1876 at Pittsburgh, PA., and at the age of two he moved with his parents to a farm near Vermont, Illinois.
On Aug. 8, 1896 he married Miss Alice McQueen. To this union were born ten children, two passing away in infancy. In 1948 a daughter passed away in Huron, S. Dakota. The children surviving are: Mrs. Hazel Huckins, Kewanee, Frank Plate, Astoria, Mrs. Lela Utterback, , New York City, N.Y.; Mrs. Mabel Crook, Portland, Ore.; Ronald Plate, Huron, S. Dak.; Sheldon Plate, Alpena, So. Dak.; and Dwight Plate, Marshalltown, Iowa. There are 24 grand children and 8 great grandchildren surviving.
In 1910 he started farming in South Dakota, where his wife, Alice McQueen, passed away on April 12, 1914. In 1934 he returned to Illinois.
In 1916 he was united in marriage with Marie Hahn. She passed away in 1925. He was married to Mrs. Mae Buck in 1928. In Sept. 1946 she passed away.
He also leaves a brother Ed Plate who lives in East St. Louis, and two sisters, Mrs. Phenie Hay and Mrs. Elizabeth Cook of Macomb. One half-brother, Charley Plate, survives.
