Andrew Edin (Anders Petter) was born in 1869 to Nils Johan Anderson and Kristina Agneta (Jonsdotter) Edin in Overammer, Jamtlands, Sweden. He was the oldest son of seven children. He migrated to the U.S. in 1893. Between 1893 and 1909 four more of his siblings migrated to the U.S. All of the family migrated to Pine County, MN, although several left the area after they came.
Andrew worked in Sandstone, MN for the father of Emma Lund. They were married in Superior, WI on their way to homesteading in Bayfield County, WI in 1895. They began their family of seven children, of which five survived, while in Bayfield. The children were: Edward,Olive Agnes, Edwin Nestor, an unnamed girl, Theodore Anton, Perry Lorentz, and Emmett Andrew. They remained in Bayfield until about 1906, and then moved back to Sandstone to a farm. They remained on that farm, although Andrew was active in civic affairs and County government and served in several capacities, including County Commissioner, over the years.
Andrew brought his love of hunting and fishing from his Swedish background and continued to both fish and hunt until about two years before his death
