HANNAH MARIA SCOTT was born to John Scott and Sarah Ann Willis on March 2, 1859 in Millcreek, Salt Lake County, Utah.

Her family was devoted to the Church of Later Day Saints and therefore John had five wifes and many children. Hannah Scott was his third wife.

John was away a great deal doing his duties for the church and with his extended families and therefore the family was left alone to often to fend for themselves.

They were on the poor side and many times would live off of crops left in the fields. The term was grubbing their living from the ground.

Hannah at the age of 8 years started school. However, she was only able to attend school every other week so her sister could attend as well since back then one had to pay tution.

The two sisters even had to share shoes due to the families' finances. The sister who stayed home for the week was tutered by the one who attended until there was no longer money for the tution. So neither girl was in school for as long as students attend now. Since, there wasn't any law stating a child had to attend.

Hannan Maria Scott and John Gillott Morgan grow up and were friends in Millcreek, Utah and they attended the same church and community activites. They grow even closer to each other as teenagers while acting in plays while attending Mutual in their church. Hannah and John eventually fall in love over the years.

Hannah Maria Scott married John Gillott Morgan in the Salt Lake Temple on December 23, 1880.

To this blessed marriage 10 children were born and they are as follows:

In 1883 when Ethel Morgan was a baby John took his wife and child by way of a horse drawn wagon and a cow tied behind for their new journey of life. Leaving behind Utah and their families for their new life in Idaho.

They arrived in September to what was referred to as Poole's Island and what is now called Menan, Idaho. They came here to live with Hannah's half brother Josiah Scott so John would be able to build a new home on his 160 area land that is now referred to as Lorenzo but was then known as Cedar Buttes.

This home was a one room house with a dirt floor and roof, and only one window and one door. Yes, this family slept on the floor for a long time while John chopped the trees down with his own hands and using only primitive tools to improve the home enviroment.

He sawed the boards and built bunk beds, a table, and stools and enough furniture for the whole family to get by.

On October of 1904 tragedy came to the family Ethel who was married to Hyrum Thomas Moss for just three short years passed away leaving behind two small children.

The children were both boys by the names of Royce and Elmer Moss. John and Hannah took in the boys to raise even though she had just given birth to her 10th child Willis Gillott Morgan in September of the same year and Willis passed away the same month she lost her daughter Ethel. This meant she lost her oldest child and her youngest child in the same month of October and she got the boys the sametime area.

She lost another child (Ava Lyle Morgan)in 1897 who was only 6 months.

Later John built a better home for the family. He was no longer the Counselor to Bishop Robert L. Bybee he was now the Bishop of the new Labelle Ward.

Ten years after they took their two grandchildren in their home to raise John came to a sudden death. He was on his way to the local market in Lorenzo to sell potatoes when he fell off his horse drawn wagon and broke his neck which lead to his death.

Hannah was 55 years old at the time of his death according to her dairy.

Hannah continued to farm after John's death with the help of her son Leo. Hannah sold her "place" in Labelle and spent the rest of her days living with her children. In the winters she lived in California with Ora, Grace and Leo and in the summers she stayed in Idaho with Zella, Fay, and Eldon.

She passed away at the age of 93 in her grandson J's home.
