George Thomas Scott was the son of John and Esther Yeates Scott. He was born in Salt Lake City and came as a small child to Millville with his mother.

On April 9, 1890, he married Esther McKay Leishman, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Leishman of Wellsville, Utah. She was born on June 7, 1869.

The Scotts made their home in Millville. During the summer of 1892, George worked for his father-in-law at a sawmill near Aspen, Wyoming; and while there he was accidentally killed in an explosion which also took the life of his sister-in-law.

In 1899, Esther was married to Henry Checketts of Providence, Utah.

George Thomas and Esther were parents of two children, the youngest born after George's death: Mabel (George P. Riggs) and George (Elizabeth Bradshaw).
